Gumperts of the past had been primarily designed for those who like to spend their weekends, not in Casino Café de Paris in Monte-Carlo but on the streets of the city where Formula 1 cars have been screaming past the terrifyingly close crash barriers, each time tweaking the ride height, camber, downforce to shave those vital seconds off every lap time. The car itself looked incredibly ugly with each and every surface designed to make the car as slippery as possible. Looks actually don’t matter for the average Gumpert owner and why would he bother when the 4.2 litre V8 produces 700 horsepower.
Now though, there is a new Gumpert out. The Tornante is what the new car is called and for the first time, designers seem to have given it an aesthetic touch. Gone are the humongous air intakes that used to push the car to the ground and so has gone the big, in-your-face spoiler. You still get gull-wing doors which probably was the only cosmetic feature on the Apollo.The twin-turbocharged 4.2 litre V8 still churns out 700 bhp but, unlike the old Apollo it uses paddle shifts in place of a sequential shifter. The TT40e transmission is also the one seen on the Apollo.
The Tornante scores more on the desirability scale over the Apollo. How this car handles without that huge wing at the back is something that will be clear once someone gets to drive it. But for now, there are rumors that the German supercar maker has plans for an even more powerful machine for the future. No doubt, its going to be insane.

“Full Throttle track tests the new GTA Spano in a world first drive on Spain’s Ricardo Tormo race circuit in Valencia.”
With 573kW and 920Nm, the GTA Spano is the real deal. Blisteringly quick with race-car-like handling, this may also be the best looking supercar on the planet right now; at least that’s what we think.
The car we drove is a prototype and is propelled by a monster 8.3-litre V10 engine, similar to that found in the US muscle car, the Dodge Viper.
But that’s where the comparisons stop. The GTA Spano is a mid-engine car built in Spain by GTA Motor in Valencia and bristles with high tech innovations, such as liquid crystal shading (you can vary the degree of light on the cabin) and a Windows XP operating system, which needs to boot up just like your own PC.
Domingo Ochoa, the owner of the company is one seriously passionate Spaniard, I had tears in my eyes after he described the effort that he and his team have put into this project.
We love the GTA logo too, it’s a coat of arms with a wolf on top (Ochoa meant wolf in medieval times) and a chequered flag on the lower half which fits nicely with the company’s racing heritage.
He has been constructing Formula 3 racecars for over fifteen years, so you’ll take my word for it when I tell you that this car is quick.
Try 0-100km/h in less than three seconds and a top speed of more than 350km/h and the Spano is literally super glued to the tarmac. The prototype we drove wasn’t quite tuned to full power, but I have no doubt that the production version, due for release later this year, will measure up.
I’m not sure how much has gone into this project but with only one GTA Spano in existence, you can bet this car is worth many millions of euros.  No surprise then, that the car was trucked to the Ricardo Tormo race track, along with the entire development team and diagnostics equipment for testing by the Full Throttle team.
The circuit was booked from 5pm-7pm, but we had to wait for a superbike session to wrap up before the car was wheeled out of the truck and readied for our serious track session. These guys was so quick that I’m surprised Spain doesn’t have more MotoGP riders in Pedrosa’s league.
Incidentally, this is the home of the Spanish MotoGP and apart from the high-speed main straight; this is an incredibly tight circuit.
After a quick run through by the technical guys in front of a decent and very enthusiastic crowd, I flicked the ignition switch and fired up the V10.
I pulled back the rather difficult racing style seven-speed sequential shifter and without stalling, hammered down pit lane towards the end of the straight and onto the track.
After several reasonably quick laps, you are praying for a set of quick shifting paddles which would allow you to enter and exit the corners much faster than what is possible with the manual shifter.
GTA Motor told us that the production cars will get exactly that, and with seven speeds which should be a treat.
This car has got loads of grip, the 20-inch rear wheels shod with massive Pirelli 330/35’s certainly help, but give them enough throttle through a corner and the car will try and step out, but not before you pull up to 1.3G, and that was without knowing the track.
It’s stable too, at just over 250km/h down the straight, the Spano feels solid and capable of much more before you downshift and set up for the left-hander and onto a series of snake like bends. This is where I would have liked some additional side bolster, at least in the driver’s seat.
The brakes are simply awesome, they’re courtesy of AP Racing and carbon ceramic, as you would expect.
I liked the steering though, plenty of feel from dead centre, although; my preference would be for a little more accuracy at high speed but nothing too dramatic.
The beauty of a monocoque constructed from exotic materials like carbon-fibre, Kevlar and Titanium, is huge torsional rigidity with minimal weight (the rest of the car is all carbon fibre panels). Try 1350 kg and when married to the sort of engine outputs listed above, the Spano was only ever going to be one of the fastest cars in the world, both on and off the track.
We can’t wait to drive the one of the production series of just 99 cars, which should start rolling out of the boutique factory later this year.

The General Motors Corporation, formerly known as GMC Truck is a name that is very well known throughout the world. In 2007 this company was GM's second largest selling vehicle division coming in close behind Chevrolet. GMC was originally dubbed the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company by Max Grabowski when he established the company in 1901. This was when some of the earliest commercial trucks were designed. The main commercial vehicle distribution is in vans, light duty and medium duty trucks although fire trucks, ambulances and heavy duty trucks and buses have been manufactured under the GMC Truck name in the past. Although GMC and Chevrolet trucks are virtually the same they do have some distinctive differences that have survived throughout the years. The trim, engine options and typically the price are a few of the differences that are very evident between the two. Once the production of the quad headlight designs were halted, the two truck brands became even more similar, much to the point of confusion for many drivers.
Of course serious truck drivers will know the difference immediately. While Chevrolet trucks have a distinct look about them today, GMC trucks will always bear the same quality that has endured form more than 100 years. Drivers who choose this brand of truck are typically not easily swayed to other models. With features ranging from standard power outlets and cruise control on the inside to heated and lighted mirrors, running lights and roof mounted air deflectors on the outside, General Motors is producing top of the line trucks that all drivers are proud to sit in and drive. From the smaller personal sedans and SUVs to the heavy duty freight haulers, these trucks have withstood years of history to become one of the top chosen truck brands for truck drivers everywhere. It is not completely surprising that the GMC name has become somewhat synonymous with commercial driving.

The 2011 GMC Acadia Denali

New for the 2011 model year is the upcoming GMC Acadia Denali. If you thought the old Denali was a great car, than you haven't seen this new model. Unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show; the Acadia was showcased as GMC's first crossover to get the "Denali" badge.
The Acadia with the Denali spin has some additional but subtle new features. The styling to the new model is also a little different. The most prevalent changes of the exterior are the chrome grille and the changes to the front and back lower fascias. The fascia and fender flares are also the same color as the body. The 2011 Denali also comes with High Intensity Discharge headlamps, body colored lower cladding and rocker moldings, 20 inch wheel, dual chrome exhaust pipes, and, of course, Denali badges.
On the inside, there are heated and cooled driver and passenger seats with leather and matching trim, a head up display, two sunroof systems with a front sliding sunroof and a stationed rear roof, and a leather wrapped steering wheel with wood mahogany accents. The Denali also sports a navigation system, accent lighting, a rearview camera, back-seat DVD entertainment system, and automatic climate control in three areas.
As far as the engine goes, the new model will feature a six speed automatic 288horsepower 3.6 Liter V6 engine. This is the same engine as the other Acadia models. Also offered are front- and all wheel drive options. Buyers can also decide between seven and eight passenger configurations. Fuel economy for the Denali includes 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway, for the front wheel drive models, and 16 miles per gallon city driving and 23 miles per gallon highway driving for all wheel drive models. GMC hasn't officially announced the price for the Denali package but its speculated to range from $38,490 to $40,490.
